REGISTRATION OF BENGALS

Bengal cats can be registered in several organizations. In The International Cat Association the Bengal cat is the fourth generation of like breeding, or studbook (SBT). The cats that are not studbook (SBT) are referred to as foundation cats for the Bengal cat. They are not actually Bengal cats but are the foundation of the Bengal cat.

In the American Cat Fanciers Association, the Bengal cat is the fifth generation of like breeding. In United Feline Organization and most other organizations around the world it is the fourth generation and beyond.

TICA Registration papers for the SBT Bengal will identify the following:

PERMISSIBLE OUTCROSSES: None

THE REGISTRATION NUMBERS can be very confusing. The first three letters/numbers

bullet

(1) identify generation and out-crossing,

bullet

(2) the six digit number indicates birth date,

bullet

(3) the number of cats registered on that date.

(1)_ _ _ (2)_ _ _ _ _ _ (3)_ _ _ TICA registration number

(1) The first position of the three first letters/numbers, indicates out-crossing.

A=son/daughter of two different registered breeds

B=grandchild

C=great grand child

S=four generations and beyond of same breed breeding.

O=unknown parentage or unregistered parentage

(2) The second position is a number

bullet

0,1,2, or 3 indicate  generation removed from unregistered parent.  This could be non-domestic or unregistered domestic.

bullet

O in this second position indicates a known registered outcross.

(3) In the Foundation Registry, this third letter indicates specific things.

bullet

N= Non permissible outcross.  A parent, grandparent or great grandparent was of a breed not permitted by the breed section.

bullet

P= Permissible outcross.  A parent, grandparent or great grandparent was a Bengal or a Foundation cat permitted as an outcross, in the Bengal cat there are no permissible out-crosses.

bullet

S=  A parent, grandparent or great grandparent was a non-domestic cat.  In the Bengal, an Asian leopard cat.

This chart represents the possible combinations when cats in the same breed section are bred together.

Find the sire number across the top and the female number across the side

REMEMBER

SAME BREED

*Asian leopard cat and other non-domestics are registered as OOT(S)... treated as a separate breed so not on the same breed chart since non-domestic cats can proceed no further than OOT(S).

This chart represents the registration code of the offspring when cats in different breed sections are bred together.

Find the sire number across the top and the female number across the side. Then look across and down for the intersection.

Asian leopard cat and other nondomestics are registered as OOT (OOS)... treated as a separate breed in and of themselves. Cannot advance past OOT (S). OOT(S) TO OOT(S) is not registered in TICA.
