A-KERR'S MARKS FOR TIP TOP TYPE

"Mara"

DAM: CH A-Kerr’s Mariana x SIRE: Rosettea Top Wesselton of SolanaRanch

This wild looking beauty is co-owned with Julie Keyer and a few others interested in her type and pedigree. Mara was not a kitten that struck me, but as she grew I realized she had an interesting way of moving… She carries her tail and head low, so that she is quite simply always on the prowl. Her long body and muscular, taller hindquarters give her that appearance of constantly stalking prey (or toys, or littermates). This girl is sweet and loving, but tends to like me more than anyone else! With her sire Wes being whited, she will be an interesting girl to put with some of the flashier males that I own.

Her pattern flow is beautiful and although her rosettes are small, they are aligned well and have that arrowhead shape that draws the eye horizontally. While Mara does have more ticking than what I consider ideal, she more than makes up for it in her coppery brown eyes, her beautiful structure, wonderful head type and what is an altogether wild essence important for the preservation of the heritage of this breed.

Mara:

  • Beautiful stature and movement. A cat that needs to be seen in person to appreciate.

  • Rounded ears, doming and flow over her top skull.

  • Hindquarters higher than her forequarters, this is an often ignored part of the standard.

  • Thick tail carried low. Coat is soft and full of small open rosettes.

  • Eyes are still changing… They have hints of copper and gold so hard to tell.

  • A/A, B/B, C/Cs, D/d.

  • Ta^M/ Ta^b, carries the gene for marble

  • HCM tested negative, Sire tested normal at 6 years this year, 2018, dam tested 2x in 2017, 2018

  • PK-Def N/N

  • PRA-B N/N via parentage

  • PK-Def and PRA-b testing verified via Optimal Selection along with testing negative for every other cat disease that is possible to screen for.
